Nagy Emma Quintet was formed in Budapest in 2018, originally to participate in a local jazz competition. We ended up winning the first prize and two soloist awards at the competition, which made us think we should call this a band and keep working together. In that same year we recorded our first EP in video format.
Since then we have been actively playing in the Hungarian club circuit, but have also had the opportunity to perform at different European music festivals like Sziget Festival, Bratislava Jazz Days or Getxo Jazz Festival.
The band has participated in the Mupa Jazz Showcase 2019, where the international jury awarded us the first prize. In October 2021 we won the Grand Prix of the Jazzjuniors International Competition that took place in Krakow, Poland.
We have released two full-length albums of original music, Set to Face (2019) and Low Frequency Oscillator (2020).
